DTV on PPV

So the Left Coast got it right this time, finding that muderer guilty and sentencing him to death. AristocraCity while mainly liberal does support the death penalty, but true to my financial roots I think a non-profit network should be started called DTV on PPV. Written out that is Death TV on Pay Per View. It really does makes sense to televise these events. Blood sports are everywhere, with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Boxing, and K-1. Why not the ultimate blood sport, death. State budgets are stretched to the max as it is, so any extra revenue would be a welcome addition to state coffers.

Millions of people attend these blood sports and millions more order it on Pay Per View for $30-50 per event. Assuming you can get a safe estimate of 1 million viewers who will pay $30, that's an extra $30,000,000 which could be used to fund abuse centers for battered women, after school programs for at risk youths, or go to any other social program that lacks adequate funding. This trial has garnered unprecedented media coverage and its likely that men and women worldwide would love to watch this scum bag be put to death, especially if the money earned from the television rights were used in a non-profit way.

I'm not talking lethal injection either. Wanna cut the murder rate how about a televised lynching, or electrocution, hell even a beheading. If a murderer knew he was going to die in a very public and very dehumanizing way maybe the act wouldn't be committed. Think of all the excitement. The muderer enters to some theme music, while the Double D, Death Dancers shake their shit. Then the murderer shits themselves or pees their pants. Next the victim's family gets to say their last words, which will hopefully be profanity laced which can be played on a constant loop on SportsCenter like a big FUCK YOU to the FCC. Maybe have an undercard with a not so famous murderer going first to electrify the viewers. The murderer will have a front row seat for the first killing so he will be very aware of what he will likely feel. The lights go dark then Metallica comes out performs a set while they make preparations for next killing. The spot lights come on, Michael Buffer announces the executioner (what CSI did for science geeks, DTV will do for Goth geeks) to great fan fare. Buffer than does his patented Let's Get Ready to Rumble and then BOOM! The murderer is lit up like the Rockerfeller Christmas tree.

Just remember its all for charity.

On as many occasions as I agree with the views of Aristocracity, on this topic I feel I must express my opinion. I know that many of his thoughts are expressed in a humorous manner, but the facts do not support such a stance.

In an effort to provide much needed funding for these governments, he wants DTV. If you look closely at the costs of the entire death penalty procedure, from pre-trial hearings, to jury selection, to expert witness investigations, to a second trial for sentencing (not to mention the whole appeals process) the costs of pursuing the death penalty are significantly greater at every single stage. Texas, Florida, California, North Carolina, Indiana and Kansas all have released reports that confirm this. To see for yourself, look here: http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/article.php?did=108&scid=7#From%20DPIC

According to a Columbia University Law School report, they found that 68% of death penatly cases are overturned on appeal (either conviction or sentence). When these cases are given a second hearing, 82% result in life sentence. Only 11% of people who have been sentenced to death have been executed. Therefore, the state must incur all the expenses of a death penalty case when the end result is usually life.

California alone, estimates say, could save $90 Million per year by abolishing capital punishment. And for other useful stats...http://www.westernprisonproject.org/PrisonIndex/Section_1/DeathPenalty.html

Aristocracity's second point is that having a death penatly will prevent future murders b/c potential murderers will think twice if they know they could die. I only have 1 question... If it is a deterrant, then why does Texas, which constitutes 34% of the national total of executions since 1976, continue to have one of the highest murder rates in the country?

Another reason to ban the death penalty is that it is not exact, and when you are dealing with human life you can not execute when there's a possibility that the person is innocent. Since 1976, 117 people who have been sentenced to the death, have been set free. Here is a list of all 117. http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/article.php?scid=6&did=109
To think that there aren't a few innocent people who slipped through the cracks and was wrongly executed is naive. The system is not perfect and therefore can not be used.

Also, how can America claim to be a human rights leader when the other major countries that also use the death penalty include: Libya, China, Cuba, Saudi Arabia, India, Iran, Indonesia, Syria, Singapore, Japan, N and S Korea, Vietnam among others. For a full list... http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0777460.html

One of the most amazing stats I've seen is that since 1990, the US has executed more minors than every other country combined. 19 of 34 worldwide juvenile executions have been performed in the US (11 in Texas alone)...http://www.anairhoads.org/politics/juvenilepenalty.shtml

I know this has been a long essay, but if you gave me a choice between being killed or spending the next 60 years behind bars, I'd want to be killed. Killers are getting off too easy if they are killed.

The end.

In response to DTV on PPv, i would liek to say that what AristocraCity wrote is sick, and a warped view of capital punishment and as his brother im a little ashamed to see what he worte yet i bleive it to be humorous and it could generate some good money.
